WTF is AHA and BHA?

Both AHAs and BHAs are hydroxy acids that act as chemical exfoliants, improving skin texture and appearance.

They can be used daily and are relatively affordable. I currently use the Beauty of Joseon toner, and mist my face with a mini humidifier beforehand. Paula’s Choice also offers excellent alternatives.

Why should you care?

HA (Alpha-Hydroxy Acid): A water-soluble acid derived from fruits, milk, or sugarcane. AHAs work by exfoliating the skin’s surface, peeling away dead skin cells to reveal fresh, new skin. They can also stimulate collagen production, helping to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

BHA (Beta-Hydroxy Acid): An oil-soluble acid that penetrates deeper into pores to remove dead skin cells and excess sebum. BHAs are particularly effective for controlling oil and regulating the skin’s natural shedding process (keratinization).
